Organizing
Elected Women Leaders of Tehri-Garhwal District through Block Forum
Constitutions paved the way towards the creation of a common platform
fusing in the positive energies and learning’s evolving from
these Women Leaders. Their concerted efforts have borne results
in operating the Forums on a functional wheel progressing towards
self-sustenance.
SBMA has been working as a catalyst in the whole process, monitoring
and supporting the initiatives taken by these women forums. The
process of facilitation has enabled the functionaries to come together,
identifying and prioritizing their issues, involving male folk in
the process, and networking with NGOs, Government, academician’s
etc. SBMA was seen as a strong support assistance provider and mobiliser
in the Programme initiation phase.
There
has been a gradual transformation in the role of SBMA with the emergence
of the constituted Block Forums as an independent collective identity.
Now the working partnership of the Block Forums and SBMA seeks to
expand and strengthen the Women Leaders initiative in the entire
State of Uttaranchal through the creation and networking of the
Block Forums in all the Blocks of the State.
Through
the tool of need based training and creation of a resource pool
of master trainers the empowered forum functionaries seek to upscale
the Programme in all the Districts of Uttaranchal with the help
of SBMA.
Training
of the Elected Women Representatives would groom them for carrying
forward the skill transference process to the next genre of women
leaders and this would be recognized as the success outcome of the
Capacity Building Process.
A cadre of women trainers with their practical experiences of governing
village communities would embark on the process of creating potential
women leaders in the future, for fostering good governance within
the society.
Building in core leadership capacities within the women trainers
to create a positive and gender sensitive environment for the new
batch of women leaders stepping after the next elections, is the
envisaged desire of the ongoing TOT programme.
